It must be nice to be a West Village girl.
According to The Cut, it’s basically a birthright of NYC’s It crowd. This cobblestoned pocket is where Carrie Bradshaw ran in heels, an iced latte is considered an accessory and a whole life can fit inside a few leafy blocks.

The unofficial uniform consists of white shirts, light-wash jeans, Sambas and a slicked-back ponytail—and come fall, the Aritzia Super Puff in matte pearl. The neighborhood has become a theme park for living out Sex and the City dreams, phone cameras always at the ready.
Now, add books to the mix. Books are trending, whether it’s Miu Miu’s book club pop-ups, Dua Lipa’s book club picks or Kaia Gerber’s Library Science. Book clubs are hot, literary retreats are hotter and the West Village is ground zero for a chic reading renaissance.
Enter Kayla Douglas, a West Village–based writer and founder of the West Village Book Club, a guide to living (and reading) well in NYC’s most iconic neighborhood. Since launching in 2022, WVBC has been bringing readers together IRL and online through its Substack, monthly meetings and even guest author chats. Douglas has been told she’s “basically Carrie Bradshaw, but with better hotel recs.”
So who better to share a cheat sheet for how to skim, stay and sip your way through the West Village.
