Welcome to Chow Now, giving you a sneak peek and insider tips for new restaurants we're super excited about.
Far West Texas just leveled up after dark.
Say hello to Nueve Uno Cinco, a sexy new cocktail lounge set in Downtown El Paso. Think design-forward interiors, desert-coded drinks and a crowd that came to sip with intention.
The space leans moody and luxe without tipping into try-hard territory: deep green walls, fluted dark wood, emerald tile, leathered stone and warm brass accents set the tone across two levels.
Cocktails are from award-winning mixologist Jason Asher (Barter & Shake) and pull directly from El Paso’s desert landscape and cultural mix. Expect premium spirits, thoughtful technique and drinks that feel specific to this locale.
You’ll want the tequila moment with prickly pear. You’ll want the color-shifting gin cocktail. You’ll want fries on the table and time on your side.

What to Order:
United We Stand
Drawing inspiration from the firebrand spirit of the Bath Riots in 1917—from unity forged through resistance and beauty shaped by resilience. A bold tequila moment with Pueblo Viejo Blanco, prickly pear and just enough bite to keep it serious. Desert-forward, confident and easy to order twice.
Medal of Honor
Bright and herbal with crisp cucumber, tart lime, and a refined Champagne foam layered over Ford’s Gin and Calvados Boulard and Rothman & Winter Quince.
The cocktail draws inspiration from a true story tied to Pancho Villa, when a hidden safe revealed not only wealth but a gold medal awarded for personal valor.
Final Stance
A cocktail born from The Acme Saloon contradiction: one foot in the chaos, the other in ritual. Built on the bold intensity of Mr. Black Spirits Cold Brew Liqueur, it channels the saloon’s edge—strong, dark, and watchful - while Ketel One provides structure and crisp clarity, sharpening the focus like a hand hovering near a holster.
Batido de Fresa
A tribute to General Pancho Villa's transformation following the revolution, this cocktail doesn’t shy away from nostalgia, but refines it with elegance and invention. At its core is clarified strawberry yogurt, which gives the drink a smooth, velvety body and a subtly tangy richness that recalls the creamy texture of Villa’s favorite strawberry milkshake treat. It is both homage and evolution.
