Sleepovers are big business for 2026 and they have us seeing double.

Hilton’s 2026 Travel Trend report notes that Gen Z (26%) and Millennial (24%) travellers are more likely to travel with their friends and Priceline’s cites the rise of “kidfluence,” family trips that are more playful and spontaneous. Enter: the grown-up bunk bed.

Bunk beds have already found their way into upscale vacation homes, getting the designer treatment. In a New York Times piece, designer Jenny Keenan noted, “We’re pretty much doing a bunk room in every house we work on. We want them to be fun, but we also want to make sure different types of people feel comfortable in them.”

While certainly not new to family-oriented hotels, this new wave of sleeping double has taken hold at design-forward hotels, blending nostalgia with practicality. Hotels, meanwhile, love a layout that doubles the fun (and revenue) per square foot. The result?
