We’re not chamoy-ed at a tasty new trend taking over.
Already a staple of Mexican cuisine, chamoy, the tangy-sweet condiment found everywhere from street food stalls and markets to restaurants and grocery stores, has officially leveled up as the flavor obsession of 2025.

The internet’s calling it chaotic as #ChamoyPickle skyrocketed in popularity via TikTok and ASMR videos (side note: ew) while brands like Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty and Van Holten’s viral pickles are cashing in. Whole Foods even put chamoy at the center of its 2025 international snacking forecast, highlighting it as a key player in the rise of bold, globally inspired flavors taking over the snack aisle.
Whether you’re team candy pickle or chamoy michelada, here’s why everyone’s tongue is red right now.
Chickles
Chamoy pickles, or “chickles,” took over TikTok with a vengeance. A dill pickle soaked in chamoy, sour candy powder and Tajín until it turns firetruck red. The kicker? Fans stuff them with Takis, Hot Cheetos or Fruit Roll-Ups before taking a bite on camera. Equal parts horrifying and addictive, the trend earned the nickname: the “Red 40 Diet.”
Rare Beauty x Tajín
Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty x Tajín drop was a sellout moment. The limited-edition Cheek & Lip Set channeled chamoy into makeup: a deep red-brown blush called Chamoy and a shimmering terracotta gloss called Clásico. Fans were quick to point out they’d already been using chamoy as makeshift lip gloss growing up, Rare Beauty just made it official.
Snack Aisle Takeover
Chamoy is no longer just for candy bags at the bodega. Big brands are banking on the flavor. Kettle Chips launched chamoy crisps that start tart with lime, slide into stone-fruit sweetness and finish with chile heat. Late July dropped chamoy tortilla chips that pack salty, tangy, chile-spiked crunch. Van Holten’s x Chamoy Mega Pickle put the viral TikTok snack straight into a pouch. Spicy, salty, tangy and nationwide, it’s DIY pickle-stuffing made easy. Even Siete Family Foods entered the chat with their Sweet & Tangy Chamoy Botana Sauce, a non-GMO, gluten-free chamoy crafted with dates, lime, chile and hibiscus.
Cheers to Chamoy!
Spirit and RTD (ready-to-drink) beverages brands are raising a glass to chamoy’s tangy twist thanks to its sweet-spicy flavor that pairs well with fruit, tequila and beer. Sol has already been selling a Sol Chelada Mango y Chamoy, a mix of Sol beer with a touch of mango and tangy chamoy flavors, and Victoria Vicky Chamoy is a chamoy beer with flavors of tomato, apricot, lime, chili peppers, and tamarind. Gen Z favorite BuzzBallz Chillers has a Chili Mango blend that features chamoy-like flavors of mango, chili, and lime. To get straight to the good stuff, Agave Boom’s Mango Chamoy is the perfect base for a spicy marg.
If chamoy has you you all hot and bothered, here are some ways to try the trend.
